Cookie policy

This page explains what browser storage the Castle Roofing Margate website uses, which parts of a page can set cookies, and how you can stop them.

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. Some cookies make a page work. Others record what you looked at or who you are. Similar tools, such as local storage in the browser, do the same job and are covered by this page as well.

This site is a brochure for a roofing company. It exists so you can read about the work, see the areas covered and ask for a written quote. The notes below describe the parts of a page that can involve a third party, so you can decide what to allow. The privacy policy covers the personal details you send us.

The rule

What the law asks for

The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 govern cookies in the UK. Regulation 6 was substituted on 5 February 2026 by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. The rule in plain terms is that a site tells you about the cookies it sets and why, and asks first, unless the cookie falls inside one of the listed exceptions.

Schedule A1 to the regulations lists those exceptions. Two of them are "statistical purposes" and "Website appearance", and a cookie that is strictly needed to deliver something you asked for has always been treated separately. Anything outside the exceptions, such as advertising or tracking across sites, needs your agreement before it is set.

On this site

Where a page can set cookies

The pages are written to read without any marketing or tracking tools. Search performance is checked through Google Search Console, which reports on how the site appears in Google results and is not a script running in your browser. Two features on the site do bring in another company's code, and they are the ones to know about.

  • The Google Maps embed. The map on the contact page loads only after you click it. Until then no request goes to Google. Once you click, Google serves the map and may set its own cookies under its own policy.
  • The quote form. The form on the site is supplied by Mortaro CRM and appears in a frame on the page. The frame loads from the form provider's server, so that provider can store information in your browser to run the form, for example to keep the form working between steps.

Links to Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube are ordinary links. Nothing from those networks loads until you follow one, and after that their own cookie policies apply.

Your choices

Stopping or removing cookies

Every common browser lets you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block them for all sites or for named ones. The menu is usually under Settings, then Privacy or Security. Blocking cookies from the map and the form provider will not change anything else on the page, though the form may then need a different route.

  1. Open your browser's settings and find the cookie or site data list.
  2. Delete the entries for the sites you do not want kept.
  3. Choose whether the browser should block third-party cookies from now on.

If the form will not load with cookies blocked, you can still call 01843 305243, send a message on WhatsApp, or email info@castleroofingmargate.co.uk. A written quote follows a survey whichever route you use.

Changes and complaints

If this page changes or you have a concern

If a new feature brings in another company's code, this page is updated to describe it before it goes live. The wording above reflects the site as it stands when the page was last edited.

A concern about how cookies or personal data are handled can be sent to us first, using the contact line at the foot of this page. Under section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018, an organisation must acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days beginning when it is received. You can also take a concern to the Information Commissioner's Office, which regulates data protection and cookies in the UK. Our complaints page covers any other kind of complaint.

Questions

Why does the map need a click before it appears?

A map embed asks Google for content the moment it loads. Waiting for a click means a visitor who never opens the map never contacts Google through this site.

Can I use the site with all cookies blocked?

The pages read normally. The Google map and the quote form may not work, in which case the phone number, WhatsApp and email on every page are the routes to ask for a written quote.
